Alo Te Khela, or Playing In Light, is a short film that visualizes themes of community, clothing, adornment, femininity, and love within the South Asian diaspora. Shot on a Bolex H16 film camera, this piece marks my first exploration of light exposure and analog filmmaking, bringing a tactile and experimental quality to the visuals. Set to the hauntingly beautiful track Mumtaz by Abdullah Siddiqui from the acclaimed Pakistani film Joyland, the film captures intimate moments that celebrate identity and connection in diasporic spaces.
